7 Days Left

I have 7 days left being 28. I am a week away from being 29. Wow that is a big statement but I'm okay with it.

However, I'm going to be brutally honest. I am NOT where I thought I'd be in life at this age. I am 372 days away from being THIRTY. 3-0. Let that sink in for a minute.....There is no one to blame but myself for not being on the path that I thought I would be on. I've done nothing about going to graduate school. I haven't even bought a GRE study book or looked at the test schedule. And I'm not married and I'm okay with that. Is that weird? I can't make a relationship happen out of thin air. I put myself out there and I have to keep faith that the man and I will find each other. Those are just two examples of the many fronts that I want to work on; however, I can't help but feel like I should be moving in those directions faster. Do I contradic myself?

I still have my list of priorites but I am struggling with it. I have picked up knitting again and I'm slowly remembering to make time to just knit (not knit while multi-tasking). I'm not trying to complete the list before 30, but I do feel like I should have a mini list of accomplishments before I enter my next century. What should be on that list? How do you prioritize your list of priorities?

I've sorta lost the point of this post except I have 7 days left being 28 years old.

Are you thirty? Did you have a bucket list before turning thirty?

Oh Happy Day!

So a week ago today, I got an email that alleviated so much stress in my life! My friend MC emailed to ask if I still needed a roommate. Yes! I do! Please be my roommate!

Y'all remember the train wreck that was right before Christmas concerning the prior roomie situation. Well I've been roommateless (is that a word?) since December 22nd. Even though that roommate lasted a month, I'm sorta not counting her as a roommate anymore. In my book, that was a bleep on the radar.

Since I don't count the 4 week girl, I've very much enjoyed living alone for the past 6 months. I like only having me to pick up after. And I don't have to ask if its okay to have people over or worry if I'm being too loud when I stay up late. But the down side is that I have no money! None. Nada. Zero.

A little more fun money will be nice! Also, I really like MC (no she is not a MC from MC ha). I think this is going to be a great situation for both MC and I.

To top it off, she is moving in on Sunday! Yes, that's right. 13 days from start to finish! I can't believe how quick we went from email to move in date. Yay for split rent and utilities again!

Yippie!

Rules to Remember

Rule Number 230- There are times in your life when you are going to have to let go of something good in order to move on to something great. This is going to be very hard. Just know that what waits for you is more amazing than you could ever imagine. Courtesy of The Rules.

So true.

I don't read The Rules regularly; however, last night I meandered over there and this simple quote could not be more fitting to my life. While I am a strong southern gal, I don't handle change very well. That is one of my weaknesses. I HATE the "unknown" and it gives me major anxiety. But some days, it is nice to have a reminder that change is not bad. Change can be amazing! Change leads to growth, strength, fabulous memories, and an unbelievable faith in what you are truly capable of.

What are you tricks when life throws you curves?

Finally Party Time!

Now that I've shown you all the crafting for ESM, lets party!

Welcome table by the front door with memory book and Wishes for Baby. Guests filled out a Wishes for Baby and we did a memory book and filled it with funny quotes from the shower, photos, and any other advice that guests wanted to share with Mommy or ESM.

Wishes for Baby is an easy printable.

 It's a Boy! Hersey kisses

Food!! Our winter foods menu included tomato bisque, veggie tray with dip, fruit platter with dip, chicken pot pie bites, cupcakes, Oreo cookie pudding, pimento cheese, goat cheese, and mini open-face grill cheese bites.

We served the tomato bisque in punch glasses. I love the presentation!! Honestly, I was nervous to serve soup since Santa brought me a new white living room area rug. There were no accidents; yippie!

Mini cupcakes!

Cookie Monster Mommy and Daddy cupcakes. The M family is growing by two feet.

Mini marshmallows to add to the hot chocolate and mini marshmallows and mini Oreo stirring sticks.

I hope you've picked up on the Oreo theme through out. Momma-to-Be has been feening for all things Oreo during this pregnancy.

Yay baby goodies!

Bella decided to check things out for a bit.

It was so much fun to co-hosting this party! It was intimate and just what the Mommy wanted. I love when a party matches the Guest of Honor so perfectly.

What's the best party you've ever hosted or co-hosted??

Happy Hosting,

Happy Valentine's Day

Since I'm chronically single, and will forever be a bridesmaid, today is just another day. However, I do think it's important to celebrate all the loves in your life! I have amazing friends and an unbelievable family. I do not tell them enough how important each person is to me. I would not be who I am today (good and bad) without these important people in my life.

I hope your life is full of...

Love,
Speaking of Southern

PS- Did you know that Chick-Fil-A is serving heart shaped biscuits today?! I wish I were winning like Merdeezy!! Sadly, I settled for a banana.

Crafts + Party Time!

On Friday I talked about all my crafting plans for Shelley's baby shower. Well the day of her shower finally arrived and my house was ready to celebrate the glowing momma!

Here are the glitter lanterns along with the drinks table! They were battery operated so they twinkled during the party.
We served a cranberry + lime punch, water, and hot chocolate to go along with our winter food themed menu. We had Bailey's, Vanilla Vodka or Rum if guest wanted to spice up their hot chocolate. Bailey's and hot chocolate, yummmmm.

Here is the mantle with my moss initial. I used a variety of silver candle holders, white tappered candles, votive candles, and magnolia leaves. Pretty simple but I was thrilled with the results. The moss initial added much needed texture and another shade of green. The color scheme for the party was blue, white, and silver so I stuck with blue, white, and grey onesies.
Momma-to-be with one of her friends.

I also made some white and silver tissue pom-poms. I learned a few pom-poms lessons haha
  1. Do NOT use target brand tissue paper. Too thin.
  2. Michael's tissue paper works perfectly.
  3. Make sure you buy tissue paper that is all the same size. Cutting tissue paper down to size is not easy.
What crafting have you done for baby showers or bridal showers?

Crafting for ESM

On Superbowl Sunday I co-hosted a baby shower at my house for a dear, sweet friend of mine. I was fortunate enough to meet her at the company where I work. Over time we became close friends and we've been there for each other through some crazy things! When Shelley married her husband, they eloped at a winery in the mountains. They were high school sweethearts that reconnected about 10 years later. I love their love story! I had the privilege of loaning her jewelry for her wedding day as well as helping her with all the last minute details for their intimate ceremony. (gah, I'm tearing up just typing all this)

Fast foward a couple years, Shelley and Brain are having a baby! On February 25th, ESM will grace us with his presences. We are all so excited to meet this little fella.

When I found out Shelley was prego, I started planning the shower in my head! I mentioned a few on my crafting plans here. I spent the weekend prior to the shower crafting up a storm. I lucked out with beautiful weather to get all my projects done.

Blue glitter lanterns. My backyard is STILL covered in glitter lol
I used spray adhesive on the lanterns. I highly advise that this is not a project to do after a manicure. I had remnants of spray glue on my hands, nails, and arms for several days lol.

Moss initial in honor of ESM for the mantle decor. Note- ESM will go by his middle name, hence the S.

Check back tomorrow to see all the projects done and set up for the momma-to-be!

DIY Nightstand

This little baby has been a TV stand for the past few years. However, I've done some rearranging and decided to use the table as a nightstand on the guest side. Originally, this was a wood color. A few years ago I spray painted it black. Along with the rearranging, I wanted more color in my bedroom.

Starting....

Priming...

More priming...

Ta-da!! Cranberry nightstand...

The project took longer than I planned. I had to use two coats of primer and then three coats of paint. I still need to paint my other nightstand so they can be a matching pair. My painting schedule kept getting interrupted due to weather so I finally brought everything inside and painted in my kitchen ha. I kept having visions of cranberry paw prints appearing across my kitchen floor but thank you baby Jesus for not letting that happen.

Happy Crafting!

2 Month Catch-up?! Ack!

SORRY!

Major blog fail. I am so mad at myself for letting so much time pass with no new post. I've taken pictures along the way with every intention of posting.

Let's pick up where I left off!

My first roast! Christmas Supper Club, December 2011

Here is our Christmas Supper Club spread! It was a potluck and since I did the main dish and everyone else brought the trimmings.

On Christmas Eve I made a tiramisu pie. It was AMAZING! (yes, I'm bragging ha)

Christmas and New Year's were perfect. (that's a whole separate post)

So hello 2012 and happy birthday to JB!
We did a brewery tour. Fun times! The Bull City is really talented with hops.

January continued to fly by with Alice in Wonderland at my Alma Mater. Once every college generation, the staff and professors perform this tradition for the students. Family, friends, and alumna can attend the dress rehearsal. Prior to the show, the college hosted a tea party.
Sugar Megnolia and I picked up these playing card cookies. We choose 6 from the deck because we are from the class of 2006. We are so clever!
Alice in Wonderland memorabilia the college has collected through the years.

Curtain!
"You're nothing but a pack of cards!" -Alice

Whew, I hope I didn't bore you with lots of photos and few stories. I've got a couple more posts lined up. I promise to be back tomorrow with some DIY posts!
